Teardrop in Lacey

The pierced bubble shapes that dot the belly of the Teardrop Lamp in Lacey are McRae's interpretation of natural, oceanic forms as they deteriorate over time. McRae adds, "the Lacey collection was also inspired by the bubble games we used to play with our kids during their bath-time." This classic lamp would be at home in any interior, be it traditional or modern.

MEASUREMENTS:

Sculpted low-fire earthenware, measures 26" H x 10.5" W.

PROCESS:

Each lamp begins as a sculpted prototype, from which McRae makes a master mold. The pieces are cast using low-fire earthenware. After curing for several days, each form is smoothed and prepped before he begins his carving process. Each perforation is tooled, carved, and cleaned several times in order to create a finished surface. After a bisque firing, the pieces are glazed and fired one final time.
